Story behind the song
Wrote the idea of the music in the early part of the 2000's, then I finally got a melody and sang stream of consciousness for the first verse. Most of that take is still there. It's about pathetic attention seekers at work and the horrors of social convention, but also about the dating game and partying in your youth.I got to play a lot of cool instruments on this one. AND my wife and son are on it! When I finished this one, I felt that I was beginning to understand how to mix songs a little better. A lot of it has to do with arrangement, which is the part of the recording process that I struggle with the most. You could have a really catchy song, but finding the right way to make the hook come out is harder than one might think. The "hook " in this song is probably pretty weak, maybe even a bit of a cop out, but it works well enough for me. I find that there is no middle ground with this song. People tend to love it or find it too scattered. I really like how it constantly changes up though.
